MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, Nov. 30) – Tuvalu is the latest country to provide police officers to the Regional Assistance Mission in Solomon Islands (RAMSI).

RAMSI coordinator James Batley says two police officers from Tuvalu are now in Honiara, bringing the number of countries participating in the mission to 11.

He says discussions are underway with some Pacific countries to provide civilian staff to RAMSI.

Australia and New Zealand currently provide civilian workers, mostly consultants and advisors to government.
