SINGH NAMED INDIAN COMMISSIONER TO FIJI

SUVA. Fiji (Fiji Times, Dec. 19) – A former Fiji Times journalist has been appointed the next Indian High Commissioner to Fiji, replacing Professor Ishwar Chauhan.

Ajay Singh spent his early years in Fiji when his father, the late Bhagwan Singh, was the Indian High Commissioner to Fiji in the mid-1970s. He worked at The Fiji Times for sometime. His wife is originally from Fiji.

Acting Indian High Commissioner Anil Anand said Mr Singh would take up his appointment shortly.

Mr Anand said this was Mr Singh's first diplomatic posting of any kind.
