DRY SEASON BRINGS HARDSHIP IN WESTERN SOLOMONS

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (PFNet, Jan. 4 ) - Water tanks on Rarumana Island in the Solomon Islands’ Western province are empty as the area’s drought season continues.

A number of families have dug water wells to cater for their daily water need, while others carried out maintenance work on existing well.

With no rainfall for about a month, the existing tanks are used for drinking and cooking only.

In the Belona community, Maloe Daga is supplying water for the household of Gabihi, consisting of 6 houses.

While the villagers are dreading the drought season, the seaweed farmers are however grateful for the sunny weather currently experienced as their seaweed is drying quickly.
