SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, Apr. 4) - The Chinese government has expressed interest in providing support for the introduction of some Chinese programs on national radio.

This follows a short visit to Fiji by Tian Jing, the Vice Minister of Telecommunications and Media of the Peoples Republic of China two weeks ago.

Jing says his government values the ties between the two countries, which can be strengthened with the exchange of cultural and educational programs on radio.

"We would like to strengthen the cooperation between the two institutions in both programs and engineering," says Jing. "I would hope that Fiji Broadcasting Corporation Limited broadcast some Chinese radio programs. I believe that the Fijian public would learn more about China through the radio services."

Jing says talks on the issue are still at the exploratory stages.
