SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, April 13) –Fiji coup leader and former Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka was re-appointed chairman of the Cakaudrove Provincial Council today for another three-year term.

The council meeting opened this morning at Somosomo on Taveuni, where yesterday the people of the province collected $60,000 to assist in the developments within the province.

Rabuka and his vice-chairman, Ratu Sairusi Daugunu, were re-appointed.

Delegates appointed from the council to the Great Council of Chiefs are the Turaga Tuwei Ratu Talemo Ratakele, Ratu Sairusi Daugunu from Saqani and Ratu Seru Buliruarua from Vuna.

All these appointments are also for three years.

"I hope we can achieve the missions that have been developed jointly by the provincial office and the Fijian Affairs in the development of the province; that's about all we can do," said Rabuka after his re-appointment. "But my main target would be to focus on the collection of provincial levy. If we can improve our performance in that because the provincial scholarships and the improvement of our facilities in the provincial office depends on how much we raise as provincial levy."
