TONGA ASSEMBLY TO BEGIN 2005 SESSION

HAGÅTÑA, Guam (Pacific Daily News, May 9) - The 2005 session of the Tongan Legislative Assembly will be officially opened on May 26 by His Majesty King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV.

The Chief Clerk of the Tongan Legislature, Fatai Pale, said that the opening ceremony will be held at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall, and members of the public are most welcome to attend; but they must make contact either with the Prime Minister's office or the office of the Tonga Legislature to register their names.

High school students will participate in the opening ceremony by lining the streets, and then following the procession from the Palace along Hala Vaha'akolo to Queen Salote Memorial Hall, and back along Hala Taufa'ahau to the Palace.

School children from throughout Tongatapu will take part in the opening ceremony by marching through central Nuku'alofa.
