PORT VILA, Vanuatu (Port Villa Presse, July 5) - One of the three Malaysian nationals who was sent home by the Vanuatu Police Force two months ago, is now back in the country.

An investigation by The Independent reveals that the man was sent back to Malaysia following the alleged misappropriation of funds while he was employed by a private company in Port Vila.

Now that he has returned, he currently has other employment at a shop at the Nambatri area.

The Immigration department Friday afternoon said that the person was not deported as some people claim.

He was sent home because of irregularities with his residency.

"He is now back in Vanuatu following a request from his girl friend who wanted him back, and also because he has legalized his residency" the Immigration Department said.

In other news, The Independent understands that a number of ships visiting Vanuatu recently haven’t been checked according to the Vanuatu Immigration laws.

It is also understood that three or four people were onboard a visiting yacht recently did not obtain entry permits, but spent a few days in Vila.
