FIRST WOMAN APPOINTED TO SOLOMONS TELEKOM

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Solomon Star, July 13) - For the first time, a female has been appointed as a Director of the Solomon Telekom Company Limited.

Announcing the appointment, Solomon Telekom said Irene Paulsen has been appointed by the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF) as a Director, and John Beverley rejoins the board as Chairman.

She works for the Commonwealth Youth Programme at the South Pacific Centre.

"Paulsen’s appointment to the board of one of the most important companies in Solomon Islands signals a new direction in managing professionally SINPF’s investments," said the chairman Beverley.

Solomon Telekom is owned and operated by Solomon Islanders with the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund and the Investment Corporation of the Solomon Islands (ICSI) holding over 62 percent of the issued shares.

Cable & Wireless is the minority investor in the company
