SUVA, Fiji (Radio Fiji News, Nov. 1) - The European Union Commission for the Pacific has welcomed the endorsement of the Pacific Plan by Pacific Island leaders.

European Union Pacific director Anders Henrikson applauded the forum countries plans to work together. He said it gives the European Union a basis to see where it could be helpful in terms of common interests.

"I must say we strongly welcome this plan and we think it's a good platform for the region. Now, the leaders have taken a decision and of course, then comes the implementation and I welcome that as a clear indication in this dynamic Pacific and the actions that will be taken, because our own experience with this exercise is that the implementation process is a challenging one," Henrikson said.

"I think we always looking to have an effective implementation of this plan for the reason, that it would be a good basis to enter the EU cooperation with the Forum region."

The Pacific Plan was endorsed by the Pacific Island Leaders during the Forum meeting in Port Moresby last week.
