HAGATNA, Guam (Pacific Daily News, Nov. 3) – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded US$4.2 million to Guam in support of housing, shelter and development programs.

The Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority is expected to administer the programs.

"The grant award by HUD will assist Guam with its housing and tenant-based rental assistance programs," said Guam Delegate Madeleine Bordallo. "It will also support local efforts that address the plight of the homeless in addition to providing the opportunity to develop viable communities through revitalization and expanded economic potential."

Under the HOME program, approximately US$1.4 million will be made available to design and implement strategies for achieving adequate supplies of decent, affordable housing.
