TONGA HOSTS MISS SOUTH PACIFIC PAGEANT

NUKUALOFA, Tonga (Matangi Tonga, Nov. 7) – The 19th Miss South Pacific Pageant is set to begin in Nuku’alofa, Tonga, with a Float Parade through the business center on Wednesday, November 9.

There are seven contestants competing for this year’s Miss South Pacific title: Miss Cook Islands Dorothea George, Miss Solomon Islands Yolanda Macsasai, Miss New Caledonia Edweena Talatini, Miss American Samoa Faith Toilolo, Miss Niue Lee Sara Heaki, Miss Samoa Falute Sauvao Va’auli and Miss Tonga Nancy Maloni.

The reigning Miss South Pacific is Sinahemana Hekau.

The contestants started off their program today by visiting disabled children at the Alonga Center at Pea before having their first catwalk rehearsal later in the afternoon at the Janfull International Dateline Hotel.

The pageant's one night event on Friday November 11 will feature the four judging categories of sarong-swimwear, talent, traditional costume, stage interview and the crowning of the new Miss South Pacific.
