SUVA. Fiji (Fiji Times, Jan. 15) – An illegal immigrant from Fiji, believed to be a major heroin supplier in Sydney, will be deported by Australia following his arrest during drug raids yesterday.

Police say two men were arrested as a result of two raids in the inner-city suburb of Redfern.

A 55-year-old man from Fiji is now being held at the Villawood Detention Centre and faces deportation, a police spokesman said.

"He is believed to be a major supplier of heroin in the Redfern area," the spokesman said.

A 49-year-old man allegedly in possession of prohibited drugs and stolen property was arrested during the raids which were part of an ongoing investigation.

The man is to appear in the Downing Centre District Court on February 24. Police are continuing inquiries into other alleged drug suppliers in the Redfern area.
