FIJI’S SKY PACIFIC MOVES INTO TUVALU MARKET

SUVA, Fiji (Fiji Times, Feb. 2) - Fiji Television Limited signed an exclusive two-year deal with Tuvalu Telecommunications Corporation for the distribution of Sky Pacific services in Tuvalu.

Chief executive Mesake Nawari said Fiji TV was happy with the deal because Tuvalu would be the second licensed Sky Pacific distributor in the region.

[PIR editor’s note: The first distributor is the Tonga Broadcasting Commission, which last November began marketing satellite dishes and other equipment to receive the Sky Pacific signal in Tonga homes. See story.]

"We're excited with our partnership with Tuvalu Telecommunications - with their technical experience and their financial strength being key factors in our decision," said Nawari.

Tuvalu Telecommunications Corporation is the sole telecommunication distributor on the island and was established in 1993.
