SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, Feb. 6) – The Fiji Muslim League has expressed disappointment and outrage over the reproduction of an article containing controversial cartoons on the Prophet Mohammed in the Sunday Post .

The original article ‘a cartoon showing Prophet Mohammad wearing a bomb-shaped turban’ was published by a Danish newspaper.

The article has led to Muslim protest and trouble in Europe and around the world.

League president Senator Hafiz Khan says the explanation by the Sunday Post that the article was only a reproduction of an international article is not acceptable.

"Not only that, it is also a depiction in a very degrading manner and we were quite surprised that such an article has turned in Fiji," Senator Khan said. "Fiji is very respectful of everybody’s feelings and we are quite concerned that the Daily Post decided to print it in Sunday's paper."
