SUVA, Fiji (Fiji 1 News, March 7) – The Fiji government has denied a Compulsory Supervision Order for four serving prisoners.

Metuisela Mua, Tevita Bukarau, Joji Bakoso and Viliame Sausauwai will remain behind bars until they serve their full term as ordered by the courts.

The men were charged and convicted on coup related offences.

Commissioner of Prisons Aisea Taoka says the decision to reject the Compulsory Supervision Order was made by Attorney General Qoriniasi Bale.

Taoka received the minister's directive last week.

[PIR editor’s note: A number of high-profile coup convicts have been released from prison in Fiji to serve their terms "extramurally."]
