STONES GUITARIST RICHARDS HURT IN FIJI FALL

MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, April 30) – The lead guitarist of The Rolling Stones is being treated for head injuries in New Zealand after falling out of a coconut tree in Fiji.

Peter Lewis reports Keith Richards was holidaying with his wife and other members of the Rolling Stones on an island resort in Fiji after the Australasian leg of their latest world tour - when the accident occurred on Thursday .

He slipped and fell while climbing a coconut tree and hit his head . Richards was flown initially to Suva for treatment but later transferred to a private hospital in Auckland for further tests.

A spokesman for the band Bernard Docherty has confirmed the guitarist suffered concussion and would remain in hospital for a few days.

The Rolling Stones are scheduled to kick off the European leg of their Bigger Bang tour at the end of next month.
