HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Solomon Star, May 24) – The Grand Coalition Government for Change led by Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare is launching its joint policy document today at the King Solomon Hotel in Honiara.

Chairman of the Government Caucus Steve Abana said the joint policy document is an amalgamation of the positions of the different groupings in the coalition.

"It is a statement that reflects our position in harmonizing the priority areas for the government to deal with," he said. "Part one consists of the pressing issues that the government will pursue vigorously. Part two consists of a general policy statement that would entail the policy direction for the government to take."

Mr. Abana also acknowledged that there are on going exercises that the government would have to reexamine before they can be adopted.

The next step according to the Caucus chairman is to work out a time frame for the implementation of the government’s policy document.

Prime Minister Sogavare will launch the joint policy document, which is expected to be live broadcast by the National Broadcaster at 3pm today.
