PORT VILA, Vanuatu (Vanuatu Daily Post, June 13) – For the first time in the history of Vanuatu, local artists are making a breakthrough in their international musical debut following the release of their new album, "Sunshiners."

After touring France the Sunshiners are now in Switzerland—a tour that will also include Germany, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Canada, England and Italy. The Sunshiners project is a collaboration of efforts between French musicians and Vanuatu lead singers George Iaviniau (of Naio), John Thomas (of Krossrod), Jake Moses (of XX Squad and Torotua Stringband) and Ben Siro (of Huarere).

The album was produced by Lachimiz Productions, an independent production in Paris, and is being marketed and distributed by Sony. The album features Vanuatu's best reggae vocal talents backed by professional musicians from Paris doing covers of famous pop standards. The Vanuatu singers are due to tour Europe for 4 months.

The promotion of the tour focuses on the talent of the Vanuatu singers and highlights the culture of the country which is virtually unheard of and unknown in Europe. A lot of hope is being placed by Vanuatu's budding music industry on the album and the tour, which heralds a new phase in the development of the industry and provides hope and motivation for young aspiring musicians all over Vanuatu.
