SALVADOR RE-ELECTED GOVERNOR IN PALAU

KOROR, Palau (Palau Horizon, Sept. 4) — Governor Browny Salvador was re-elected as Ngarchelong governor during the state’s general election on Aug. 29.

Garnering an overwhelming lead of 125 points, Salvador beat lone opponent Tobias Aguon for the gubernatorial post, according to the unofficial election results released by the Election Commission.

Salvador got 345 votes over Aguon who received 220 votes.

With the lead and some 110 absentee ballots already at the poll body, Salvador is assured of another four-year term. The poll body said Wednesday they have received 75 absentee ballots out of the 114 ballots they sent out and 35 walk-ins. Counting of absentee ballots will be conducted on Sept. 5, seven days after the election at 3:30 p.m.
