PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (PNG Post-Courier, Nov. 6) - A new armed force set up in Bougainville has issued a stern warning to the Autonomous Bougainville Government in Papua New Guinea to get Noah Musingku and his so-called royal guards to disarm immediately.

The group, known as the Bougainville Freedom Fighters is made up of ex-combatants from Buin and Siwai who have been working alongside the Autonomous government, said the time to address issues in a peaceful manner was over.

On Friday, the group in a statement warned Autonomous Bougainville Government to pull its act together and take heed of the Tonu situation or they will take the law into their own hands. In a letter to the Post-Courier, Bougainville Freedom Fighters warned that the armed force will continue to fight and any talk of weapons containment will not be accepted. They made their stand known, saying that the only solution to the fighting is for U-Vistract or the Me’ekamui force to destroy all their weapons.

The group said Autonomous Bougainville Government’s policy to address problems through "peaceful means" was not working. Bougainville Freedom Fighters said the situation in Siwai would continue unless the Autonomous Bougainville Government comes up with an amicable plan.
