HAGATNA, Guam (Marianas Variety, Dec. 15) – A Korean naval training force wrapped up its tour of the island yesterday after training with Guam-based sailors.

Gov. Felix P. Camacho met yesterday with Jung Mok Son, Training Force Commander of South Korea’s ROK Navy Cruise Training Force, and Korea Consul General Chang-Sol Kim.

"We are honored to host our friends from South Korea here. We’ve seen increased military training activity here on Guam, not just from our U.S. Armed Forces, but from allied nations as well. These activities speak to our island’s strategic value to America and her allies that will translate into greater economic opportunities for our people," the governor said.

Training Force Commander Rear Admiral Jung Mok Son is on Guam with a contingent of Korean sailors who have been training with the navies of nine allied countries.

These Korean sailors already have trained with their counterparts in Pearl Harbor, San Francisco and San Diego before deploying to Guam for two nights and three days training with Guam’s sailors.

They have been deployed on their training mission for four months and are now headed back to South Korea from Guam.
