HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Solomon Star, Dec. 21) - Buala provincial member Ruben Dotho is Isabel Province’s new premier after beating former premier James Habu by 11 votes in the election of the premier yesterday.

Isabel Provincial Assembly clerk Daniel Dara said of the 16 assembly members, 11 voted for Mr. Dotho while five voted for Mr. Habu.

"All the members are satisfied with the election result and the way it was carried out," Mr. Dara said yesterday.

He said with the election of the premier over, the next thing is for the premier to form his executive - possibly next week.

Meanwhile, .Dara said the provincial speaker Mathew Kale has retained his seat and his deputy is Allan Hagelui.

Both these men stood unopposed when the nominations for their positions closed on Tuesday.
