SAIPAN, CNMI (Mariana Variety, Jan. 3) - A 32-year-old man who received a DHL package that contained more than 100 grams of "ice" was arrested and was charged before the U.S. District Court of Guam yesterday.

Ryan Jason Wall was charged with attempted possession of methamphetamine hydrochloride with intent to distribute after he was arrested in a controlled delivery operation at the DHL complex in Tiyan on Tuesday.

According to Michael C. Perkins, a task force agent of U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration a Guam Resident Officer received an anonymous telephone call on December 29, 2006 about a DHL package containing the drug "ice."

The caller provided the DHL tracking number and stated that the package was originally sent from Fife, Washington on December 15, 2006.

On December 29, at 7 p.m., Officer Perkins met with the anonymous caller and stated that the DHL was sent to a person identified as Ryan Jason Wall who previously received a DHL package on December 6 and that approximately 5 ounces of "ice" were concealed in the package.

A day after, Perkins checked the DHL tracking number thru the website and learned that the package arrived on Guam at 8 a.m. The DHL package was omitted from the airline manifest and the package had been routed from Fife, Washington to Los Angeles, CA to China and Guam.

On the same day, the package was X-rayed at the Guam International Airport, the X-ray revealed the contents contained an organic substance consistent with contraband.

A search warrant was obtained from the Magistrate Judge on December 31 which was subsequently executed to open the package. When opened, the package revealed 118.9 gross grams of crystal concealed within bath products.

The controlled delivery operation was conducted on January 2, 2007 wherein Wall walked into the DHL complex at 5:18 p.m., provided a tracking number and received the package.

As he was exiting the building, Wall was arrested.
