HONIARA, Solomon Islands (SIBC, Jan. 8) – A North Guadalcanal chief, Andrew Kuvu, says the Solomon Islands government must be honest about its decision to return alienated land to original owners.

He says whilst the government had announced that Cabinet and Caucus have agreed to return those land to the people, the process of doing it has been very slow.

Chief Kuvu also says Land Plot 490 near Henderson Airport is an example in which the government has subdivided the land and buildings are being constructed on the land.

"Government has started selling land, it has sub-divided it, making it into Fixed Term. As a chief I am surprised why this government does not respect its policy to return alienated land to landowners. But on Guadalcanal the government is selling land, and I am concerned about what the government is doing."

Chief Kuvu says he supports calls by Guadalcanal people asking their members of Parliament to withdraw from the Coalition government if their demands continued to be ignored.
