SUVA, Fiji (Fiji Times, Feb 8) – The arrival of five cruise ships to Suva over the next few days will bring about 6000 visitors to the capital, says Fiji Visitors Bureau chief executive officer Viliame Gavoka.

"These visitors would see for themselves that there is nothing to worry and they would take back their story with them to their countries," Mr Gavoka said.

He said this would help greatly in Fiji's marketing campaign underway and would increase visitor arrivals. Tourism Action Group chairman Damend Gounder said the arrival of the ships would add to the tourism revenue.

The Tourism Department has set up an information booth at the Suva wharf for the visitors.

The department said the army brass band would perform at the wharf on Thursday.

Shopping hours in the capital will be extended and a taskforce has been set up to facilitate tours and sight-seeing.
