TAIWAN HOSPITAL FORGES RELATIONSHIP WITH PALAU

KOROR, Palau (Marianas Variety, March 22) – A group of physicians and personnel of a prestigious private hospital in Taiwan is in Palau to forge a collaborative relationship with the Palau Ministry of Heath.

Taiwan Ambassador to Palau Matthew Lee said the ShinKong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital said the health institution will be sending one doctor and one nurse to provide long–term health services in the Belau (Palau) National Hospital.

Lee said that the hospital delegation comprises of not only physicians but Information Technology experts as well.

Lee said Shin Kong Hospital is also known as an institution who establishes charitable activities.

Olivia Wu, hospital chairman assistant said that the institution is planning to share their experience in healthcare including the emergency medicals service system, disaster preparedness planning, telemedicine and healthcare personnel training.

Health Minster Victor Yano said that the visit of the group is to determine the needs of the Belau National Hospital.

He said from that assessment, the hospital will be able to provide the necessary assistance.

He said the Taiwanese hospital will be providing long-term medical support.

Yano said the collaboration has been in the planning stage.

He said the last visit of President Remengesau in Taiwan pushed the agreement forward.

Lee said the collaboration will be formalized within a few months.
