TAIWAN SENDS BOATLOAD OF FOOD TO GIZO

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (SIBC, April 11) – Republic of China has stepped up its assistance in relief efforts to the tsunami and earthquake victims in Solomon Islands’ Western and Choiseul Provinces by sending a boat of supplies to Gizo.

Government Communications Unit says among supplies carried by the boat — Yuh Fa no. 201 — which left Honiara yesterday afternoon, are 150 bags of rice and vegetables, donated by the Taiwan Technical Mission.

Also on board are 500 cartons of noodles and tuna donated by the Solomon Islands Chinese Association.

Meanwhile, on arrival in Gizo tomorrow morning, a specialist from the Taiwan Technical Mission will coordinate with Solomon Islands Red Cross Society to distribute relief supplies.
