TONGA ROYAL WEDDING DRAWS 700 SPECTATORS

In a peaceful yet opulent ceremony and in front of more than 700 guests, Hon Titilupe Fanetupou Vava'u Tuita wed soldier 2nd Lieut. Siaosi Kiu Tau ki Vailahi Tu'ivakano this morning.

His Majesty King Siaosi Tupou V and Her Majesty the Queen Mother Halaevalu Mata'aho were among royalty from Tonga and neighbouring Pacific nations as well as family and friends who attended the occasion.

Hon Fanetupou Vava'u is the second daughter of HRH Princess Pilolevu Tuita and Lord Tuita. She is seventh in line to the throne. Kiu Tau ki Vailahi is the eldest son of Lord Tu'ivakano and Robyn Kaho.

The bride wore an off-white chiffon layered dress, and the groom came in full official military garb. They were flanked by their groomsmen and bridesmaids appropriately attired in black, offset by deep orange bouquets, in acknowledgement of the mourning period for His Late Majesty King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV. The maid-of-honour was the bride's youngest sister Hon Tupou Moheofo Tuita.

A reception, which is currently on at the Janful International Dateline Hotel, followed the nuptials held at the Church of Tonga in Nuku'alofa. The First Sunday will follow today's event at the Church of Tonga in Nukunuku.
