SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, May 7) - Fiji Assistant Police Commissioner for Operations Jahir Khan is expected to sign a contract with the Solomon Islands Government for the post of Police Commissioner this week.

Khan said he will be leaving for Honiara tomorrow and will sign his contract right away if the employment conditions are favorable.

He added the salary being offered is substantially more than what he is currently being paid in Fiji.

Khan said he will return to Suva and apply to retire from the Fiji Police Force before taking up his new appointment in about a month.

The contract is for three years.

Last December, the Solomon Government declared then Police Commissioner, Shane Castles, an undesirable immigrant following a controversial probe into the government's role in allowing a fugitive Australian lawyer, Fiji-born Julian Moti, into the country. The post has been left vacant since.
