PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (The National, May 14) - The Tourism Promotion Authority (TPA) will for the first time join the tourism exchange fair to be held in Fiji, an event where industry members could promote and sell their products.

This was revealed during a function hosted by TPA for the tourism industry participants in this year’s tourism exchange in Nadi, Fiji to take place from tomorrow till May 19.

In previous events, it was TPA that attended to market the country’s tourism industry but it only promoted the destinations and not the products. In this conference, the PNG tourism operators will promote their respective products.

The travel trade show will be attended by tourism operators from Europe, US, and Asian region who will be selling their respective products and services.

PNG operators in attendance will include Lissenug, Walindi Resort, Loloata Island Resort, Sepik Adventure tours, Kiunga Nature Tours, Air Niugini and Tour Operators Association.

TPA chief executive officer Peter Vincent stressed that in the first quarter of this year, about 25,000 foreign tourists visited the country as against the 16,000 that came the last year.

The tourism exchange will enable industry participants to meet buyers and sellers from across the globe.

Air Niugini will shoulder the return tickets of conference participants.
