RAROTONGA, Cook Islands (The Cook Islands Herald, May 15) - Ngatuaine Maui and Ngarima George from the Anthropology department of the Ministry of Culture have a busy schedule ahead of them.

Over the next five days they will be in Mangaia to record three of the most important pees of the island.

They will then go to Mitiaro to film the maraes of the island.

In June they will travel north to Manihiki and Rakahanga to film the maraes, the lagoon, fish traps and boundaries. On this trip they will take Papa Ioane Kaitara who has extensive knowledge of the northern islands.

Towards the end of this year the two anthropology officers will document various traditional sites on Pukapuka.

All this knowledge collection is part of the unit's responsibility for preserving Cook Islands knowledge and traditions.
