APIA, Samoa (Samoa Observer, July 13) – Staff of the Legislature of American Samoa lined up for food at a recent Government function before guests had eaten, Senator Fiatauiaulava I. Sauni, said in the Senate.

What made it worse was that the guests had not eaten, Fiatauiaulava said.

Further, when refreshments for the guests were sought, none could be found because staff members had taken boxes of beer each, he said.

"If I had had the power, I would have fired them all," he said.

The District No. 5 Senator said he knows other Legislature staff members are just as unhappy as he was about the matter.

The function concerned was held for leaders of other United States of American territories in the Pacific.

The President of the Senate, Lolo M. Moliga, said Legislature staff was standing in line to get food for the senators.

But Fiatauiaulava said he wanted to make it clear he knew well staff members who were doing that.

He said he was mentioning what he saw at the function as something to be considered for the future.

He was not embarrassed to raise it because it was something that has happened in the past, the Senator said.
