HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation, July 23) –Western Province premier Alex Lokopio maintains that his province is bitter about the appointment of Julian Moti as Solomon Islands Attorney General.

Speaking from the provincial headquarter, Mr Lokopio says Moti's landing at Munda last year without the knowledge of his provincial government and people, speaks very poorly of Moti and whoever else that backed the move.

Mr Lokopio says last year, seven provincial premiers met with Prime Minister Sogavare and put it clearly to him that the appointment of Julian Moti would be unpopular unless the right steps are taken to clear his name.

He says he is surprised that after assuring the provincial premiers that their views will form the basis of any decision on Moti, the Prime Minister defied his promises and appointed Moti as Attorney General.

Premier Lokopio maintains his earlier call against Moti's appointment over the weekend.
