NIUE SCHOOLS TO TEACH NATIVE LANGUAGE ]

AUCKLAND, New Zealand (NiuFM News, July 26) - Efforts to preserve the Niuean language have taken a huge step forward today.

Education Minister Steve Maharey has launched a set of guidelines to support teachers to deliver the Niuean language in early childhood centres and schools.

It joins guidelines for Samoan and Cook Island Maori already available.

Mema Maeli is at the launch and says a lot of people turned up to mark the important event.
