MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, Aug 6) – A former Vanuatu government minister is in custody over the National Bank fraud.

The former MP was arrested by police last night and local authorities say the person's name has been withheld for security reasons.

A number of people were recently arrested but were subsequently released on bail.

They include two French nationals and a local, with all three to face court again on August 10.

Police say they expect to make further arrests later this week.

Last week, Vanuatu's high profile foreign minister and deputy Prime Minister, Sato Kilman, was removed from office following the discovery of a multi-million dollar fraud allegedly involving a member of his staff and party members.
