Vanuatu’s Daily Post newspaper reports that the China-funded construction of the Melanesian Spearhead Group Secretariat began in January this year and was completed last month.

In a formal ceremony, Vanuatu’s Prime Minister Ham Lini thanked China for its financial and technical support as well as the Chinese Embassy in Vila for its role as facilitator of the project.

Mr Lini said that the completion of the Melanesian Spearhead Group Secretariat marked another milestone to the developments that are taking place within the Melanesian Spearhead Group sub-regional grouping.
