The Charge d’ Affaires Mr. Toshio Omura of the Japan Embassy in Kolonia Pohnpei, visited Yap to sign an agreement with Marror Community in Rumuu village for a grassroot project for the extension of water supply into the community.

Upon arrival in Yap, Mr. Omura paid courtesy call on Governor Anefal and Lt. Governor Tareg. His primary purpose of visiting Yap is for a grassroots project, which entails a grant in the amount of $140,000. Mr. Omura also took the opportunity to thank the Government for its warm welcome and support to the Japanese Overseas Volunteers (JOCVs) who are serving with various Departments and Agencies in the State. Governor Anefal in reply thanked the Government of Japan through Mr. Omura for the assistance extended to the community of Mirror and said this will have significant impact on the village as the State’s present water system has yet to reach several remote village communities around the main island. He also assures the Charge d’ Affaires of Yap State Government’s continued support to the JOCV and hopes the volunteers are finding their services both contributing and rewarding while residing in Yap.
