HONIARA, Solomon Islands (SIBC, Nov. 27) – Member of Parliament for West New Georgia/Vona Vona, Mr. Peter Boyers, has been sworn-in as the Minister for Finance and Treasury in the Solomon Islands.

Mr. Boyers was sworn-in this afternoon soon after his arrival from overseas.

A statement from the Office of the Prime minister says Mr. Boyer replaces the Member of Parliament for Rendova/Tetepare Mr. Francis Zama.

Mr. Zama was reshuffled to the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, a portfolio he willingly accepts.

During the ceremony, Governor General Sir Nathaniel Waena also reiterated the position of the Office of the Governor General on the present political impasse.

He said the numbers game was a matter for the Government and the Opposition to sort out and not the Office of the Governor General.

Sir Nathaniel said the swearing in ceremony this afternoon further amplified the position of the Office of the Governor General.
