AUCKLAND, New Zealand (NiuFM, Dec. 20) - Tuvalu is facing a water crisis - with salt water invading fresh water, as sea levels rise.

Climate change is being held responsible for the rising tides and for a small island like Tuvalu - the cost of desalination is impossible.

A government spokesman says they can no longer consume water from wells and houses getting flooded during high tides is a common occurrence.

Kelesoma Saloa says their 11,000 strong population are starting to get a real taste of what's ahead of them.
