SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, Jan. 4) – Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare will be arriving in Fiji at midday today on a three day private visit.

Foreign Affairs minister Ratu Epeli Nailatikau told fijilive that he will be at the Nausori Airport at midday to greet Sir Michael.

"He (Sir Michael Somare) is on a holiday," he said.

Asked whether he will be meeting the interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama, Ratu Epeli said "there's no plans for that as yet but if he wishes to visit the PM he can do so".

Ratu Epeli added that Sir Michael is expected to go to Australia and New Zealand after his visit to Fiji.

The PNG embassy in Fiji has no comments.

Sir Michael had been holidaying in Tonga as a guest of his Tongan counterpart Dr Feleti Sevele and the Princess Regent, Salote Pilolevu Tuita.

Sir Michael and Dr Sevele had been discussing the kind of assistance that they can provide to Fiji for her full return to democracy.
