SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, Jan. 7) - Fiji's Director of Public Prosecutions office has sought bail revocation for the 10 men accused of conspiring to kill interim Prime Minister and military commander Frank Bainimarama.

[PIR editor’s note: A total of 16 suspects were arrested in early November 2007 in connection with an alleged plot to assassinate Bainimarama.]

The case was called before Justice Daniel Goundar in the High Court in Suva today.

DPP lawyer Asishna Prasad informed the court that the application for bail revocation was on the grounds that it involved national security issues and wanted an order from the court for the 10 to be remanded.

Only one accused, former Fiji Intelligence Unit Director, Metuisela Mua was present in court.

The other nine men are; Former Counter Revolutionary Warfare unit (CRW) soldiers Barbados Mills, Isireli Cakau, Pauliasi Namulo, Eparama Waqatairewa, Kaminieli Vosavere and Feoko Gadekibau; Pacific Connex marketing manager, Sivaniolo Naulago, former Land Force Commander, Colonel Jone Baledrokadroka and former Member of Parliament Peceli Rinakama.

They were released on strict bail conditions by the Magistrates Court last month.
