NEW CALEDONIA’S OLDEST DIES AT 112

SUVA, Fiji (Oceania Flash, Jan. 2) – New Caledonia's oldest woman and for that matter all-gender longevity record older, Marie-Louise Lhuillier, has died at the weekend aged 112, local media report

The local figure died peacefully at her Nouméa residence on Friday evening, her family said.

Lhuillier, who spent most of her professional life first as a French teacher, and later as a bank clerk, was born in Nouméa on 26th of June, 1895.

She never married and never had children.

The new officially oldest New Caledonia is also a woman, Marthe Page, who also born in Nouméa on a 9th of April, 1904 and is therefore nearing her 104th birthday.
