FRENCH AMBASSADOR TO VISIT SOLOMON ISLANDS`

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (SIBC, Jan. 8) – The French ambassador accredited to Solomon Islands, Patrick Boursin, is paying an official visit to Honiara between today and Thursday.

Ambassador Boursin, who heads the French Embassy in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, arrived in the capital Honiara this afternoon.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says during his visit, Ambassador Boursin will pay a call on the newly elected Prime Minister Derek Sikua, to personally deliver a congratulatory message from his French counterpart, Prime Minister Francois Fillon.

Ambassador Boursin will also meet with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade William Haomae, and Minister for Tourism and Culture Seth Gukuna.

He will discuss some bilateral issues with the Prime Minister and the two ministers in the Coalition Government.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry says the commemoration of the landing of French Navigator La Perouse in 1788 in Vanikoro, Temotu Province, will be among the issues to be discussed.

Ambassador Boursin will leave Honiara on Thursday.
