SUVA. Fiji (Fiji Times, Jan. 14) – An island resort that has attracted notable guests like Billy Connolly, Caroline Kennedy, Ringo Starr, Robin Williams and Sir Edmund Hillary is going on sale.

Toberua Island has been advertised for sale at NZ$3.9million [US$3 million].

The 1.62 hectare property located two kilometres off Viti Levu has been refurbished in recent years.

"Toberua has attracted a lot of high profile people over the years and has received a big make-over in recent times to bring it back up to a high standard," said Chester Rendell, of Baileys Realty Group.

Mr Rendell said the recent coup had little effect on occupancy levels at Toberua despite widespread discounting amongst tourist operators.

Another tourist haven, the 5.6 hectare Qo Qo island which sits on the Tuva River 14 acre island is accessed by a bridge connecting it to the main island of Viti Levu, and is just 46 kilometres from Nadi International Airport and minutes from the world renowned Natadola Beach.

A glide down the river reveals some of the best inner reef fishing in Fiji. Beyond are the Mamanuca and Yasawa Island groups. Qo qo Island is selling for $6.5 million. Baileys Fiji manager, Philip Toogood said the island, which is currently used as a private retreat, is well suited as an exclusive resort that can be expanded in the future.
