HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Solomon Star, Jan. 11) - A Honiara businessman has urged the government to immediately intervene and stop a foreign boat now buying scrap metals from leaving next week.

The businessman said it’s obvious that the Asian buyers of "scrap metal" are buying the country’s war-relics as "scrap".

The businessman said he had seen machine guns and many war relics being bought as scrap metals.

"These people are stealing our history," the businessman warns.

He urged the National Museum to immediately inspect all the metals now on the boat and retrieve "war relics".

"We can’t allow them to do that," he said.
