PALAU VISITOR ARRIVALS UP 12 PERCENT IN NOVEMBER

KOROR (Palau Horizon, Jan. 16) — The November 2007 visitor arrivals posted over 12 percent increase compared to the same month of 2006, according to the Palau Visitor’s Authority statistics.

The Nov. 2007 arrivals are 6,304 compared to the Nov. 2006 arrivals to 5,590.

According to the statistics, the number one market is Japan visitors with 1,882 arrivals compared to 1,441 arrivals on Nov. 2006. The Japan market posted a 30 percent increase this year.

The second top market is the Taiwan arrivals with 1,819 visitors compared to 1,781 visitors in 2006.

The third top market is the Korean market with 1, 362 arrivals.

According to the statistics the 4th is the visitors from the United States but compared to 2006, visitors from that area dipped by 37.52 percent.

The statistics further added that 5th is visitors from Guam with 189; 6th is visitors from the Philippines with 128; 7th from European countries with 123; 8th are from other areas with 93; 9th is from Micronesia region with 87 and 10th is from Germany with 66.

The statistics also said that compared to the months covering January to November in 2006, the 2007 statistics posted a 7.98 percent increase with 80,463 compared to only 74,515 in year 2006.
