SAIPAN, CNMI (Marianas Variety, Feb. 6, 2008) – Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) Senate Floor Leader Jude U. Hofschneider yesterday said Bridge Investment Group LLC has set the groundbreaking for its casino project on Tinian in April or May.

Hofschneider, R-Tinian, said the company’s engineers and architects were on island to work with their local consultants.

He said he "gets periodic updates" regarding the casino project.

"They call me anytime or I call them. In fact, they’re about to submit all the permits later this month or early in March," the senator said.

Bridge Investment "indefinitely" postponed the groundbreaking scheduled in December due to the Saipan gaming measures introduced in the Legislature. None were passed.

Hofschneider said the company is "serious" and "pretty much ready."

He added, "They will push through with the casino project as planned — that’s their commitment and we’re banking on it."

The new casino facility is supposed to be completed in June 2009.
