PORT VILA (Vanuatu Daily Post, April 17) - A meeting by the Freshwota Council of Chiefs Sunday has identified three Correctional Services escapees— Sam Koilo, Bill David and Lee Tamata - to have been responsible for the rape of a girl and bashing of two gentlemen at Freshwota during the time of their recent escape.

During the meeting that saw more than 300 people in attendance, recaptured inmate Sam Koilo was identified to have been responsible for the rape while Bill and Lee confessed to being behind the bashing.

Another culprit Tom Black was also identified but he was not at the meeting.

Apart from Black, Koilo, Bill and Tamata were escorted by the police to the park where the meeting proceeded successfully.

Following the identification police will lay charges against the trio.

The meeting was convened by the Freshwota chiefs after learning about the assaults involving youths from Ohlen who were apparently led by the former escaped prisoners.

Residents from as far as Tebakor, Manples and even Nambatri areas attended the meeting.

President of Freshwota Women Anneth mial requested all parents to teach their children so that they become good law-abiding citizens.

She especially appealed for the safety of women in the area.

Meanwhile on behalf of his colleagues inmate Lee Tamata begged for forgiveness from members of the public and vowed that they won’t do crime again once they’ve served their time.
