Two Chinese experts to be in Tonga for two years

NUKUALOFA, Tonga (Tonga Broadcasting Commission, April 24, 2008) –The People's Republic of China government donated more than 5 million RMB estimated at more than a 100,000 pa'anga [US$49,000] to the Minister of Foreign Affairs yesterday.

This is to show their support to develop Tonga's Agricultural and Education sector.

Chinese Embassy, HE Mr. Hu Yeshun and the the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tu'a Taumoepeau Tupou signed an agreement for the donation at the Foreign Affairs office.

The donation will go towards the renovation of Ha'apai High School as well as developing Agricultural Technical Demonstration project.

Mr. Yeshun also says that two experts in Agriculture from China will be working for two years in Tonga particularly for the Technical Demonstration project, as well as other areas like farming.

He says the Chinese government is more than happy to help in any way they can.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs says this is Tonga's lucky, as both countries benefits from their working ties.

The Minister says this donation was confirmed while his majesty's visit to China and there were other donation also, including motorbikes for the Police Department.

Work will immediately start once works towards the funds complete.
