Annual consultations focus on cooperation

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (SIBC, Sept. 21, 2008) – Senior officials from Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands will meet in Honiara as of tomorrow for their annual consultation talks and their joint border committee meeting.

Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, Bernard Bata’anisia, says issues to be discussed at the meeting will range from political to security, trade, economic, investment as well as border issues.

He says the meetings also provide an opportunity for both governments to review their co-operation arrangements and advance their bilateral relations and interests.

The meeting will be followed by the 7th PNG-Solomon Islands bilateral consultation meeting, from 24 – 26 September.

The week long consultation will be held at the Iron Bottom Sound Hotel.
